La Famiglia di Grisanti arrived in America from Italia in the early Nineteen hundreds. Rinaldo and Mary settled in Memphis, Tennessee and began their family as well as establishing a tradition that has lasted to this day- Grisanti Tuscan Cuisine!
In 1978, the Grandson of Rinaldo and son of Elfo, the world renowned and published chef, along with his famiglia of Kay, Dino, Judd and Alex began carrying on the Grisanti tradition, opening their own restaurant at Union and Marshall, the original site of the world famous Sun Studios. As the restaurant flourished, the Rinaldo Grisanti famiglia moved the restaurant from one historic area to another Memphis historic location, opening on Beale Street. After the two downtown restaurants the famiglia decided to move east and for the past 20 years have been at their present location of 2855 Poplar Avenue.
Rinaldo’s son, Alex, joined his father in the restaurant business. Father Rinaldo and Alex Grisanti are Certified and published Working Chefs becoming the first in the history of the ACF to receive their certifications together as father and son.
The objective of the Rinaldo Grisanti famiglia has been the elevation of the Grisanti name and cuisine to its’ highest level since the inception of Grisanti Tuscan fare. They have accomplished their mission by not only using the highest quality fresh products available, but by also taking a constant hands on approach in their kitchens. More important is their exposure and constant education in the Italian culinary arts. Father and Alex regularly visit Italia, where they study and work in all regions, which keeps them teaching, traveling and incorporating their new found ideas into their family cuisine. These learned experiences are combined, developed and refined techniques that have helped mold them into the life long tradition of Grisanti Tuscan cuisine.
Rinaldo Grisanti and Sons Restuarant is a pure reflection of an Italian families art form and passion; the love of one’s chosen profession. It is a true art form that can only be inherited, passed down, cherished, treasured and then offered in it’s simplest and purest form to those who search worldwide for Tuscan Cuisine at it’s finest.
